Golden Mile

Marbella’s Golden Mile is a destination of unparalleled luxury—a captivating 6.5-kilometer-long boulevard adorned with palm trees, opulent resort hotels, exquisite beaches, majestic villas and mansions, verdant parks, designer boutiques, and haute cuisine restaurants. It’s a stretch that exudes exclusivity, boasting elite beach clubs that define refined coastal living.

This prestigious address is in close proximity to the esteemed golf courses and private schools, solidifying its status as the most sought-after address in this region of Spain.

The legacy of the Golden Mile traces back to Alfonso von Hohenlohe’s acquisition of the Santa Margarita estate, which birthed the iconic Marbella Club in 1954. This five-star resort became synonymous with glamour, attracting luminaries such as Ava Gardner, Deborah Kerr, Omar Shariff, Sean Connery, and Liza Minelli. Following suit, the Puente Romano Hotel emerged, rivaling the Marbella Club in fame. Subsequently, affluent visitors began constructing their lavish villas along the shoreline or nestled in the nearby hills.

The Golden Mile’s allure was further enhanced by its illustrious residents—the Bismarcks, Rothschilds, Thurn und Taxis, Metternichs, Goldsmiths, de Mora y Aragóns, and the Thyssen-Bornemisza family—cementing its place among Europe’s most prestigious addresses. Its reputation soared when the late King Fahad of Saudi Arabia erected a summer residence, a structure reminiscent of Washington’s White House in both scale and style. Initially dubbed ‘La Milla de Oro’ by Roy Boston, a German entertainer and developer behind the acclaimed Alhambra del Mar project, this area became an illustrious landmark of sophistication and prominence.
